What are the programmes like & how do I listen?

You can hear AHBS 24 hours a day through the speakers or the headphones of the Patientline bedside radio system which is available to nearly all our patients in the William Harvey Hospital . You will find us on radio channel 1.

AHBS presenter Bob Davidson

During the day tune in for great music & entertainment, news and hospital information.  At night, relax with our easy listening music. You can hear our request shows on weekday evenings between 7:30pm & 9:30pm and also on Saturday and Sunday afternoons where patients choose the music.

Our team of presenters and request collectors visit the wards before each programme to find out exactly what each patient in those wards would like to hear.

Our ward visiting teams are also trained to explain to patients how the Patientline unit works and to report any problems.

They then return to the studios and find these songs in our extensive library which currently boasts over 9,000 tracks on our computer play-out system, which is growing all the time.

Patients can call the studios direct from their bedside unit at any time by pressing the grey key on the telephone keypad – what's more, it's a free call!
