AHBS supporting the Royal British Legion
November 17, 2011 No CommentsAHBS Community Radio were out and about over the weekend and proud to be supporting the local branch of the Royal British Legion.
On Saturday (12/11) the AHBS team were broadcasting live from the band stand in Ashford town centre, along side the annual British Legion town centre poppy appeal collection.
As well as broadcasting music and entertainment live, AHBS also broadcast performances by Ashford’s 305 Squadron Air Training Corps silver band who performed throughout the day.
On Remembrance Sunday (13/11) AHBS Community Radio broadcast a special hour long programme from the memorial gardens covering the service with thoughts, commentary and reflection presented by Richard Collins and Jan Pickett.
As well as carrying the service live, the programme also set the scene for those listening with commentary as the service progressed and wreaths were laid by service personnel and assembled dignatories.
The programme featured interviews with participants, including District Superintendent for the Ashford branch of St John Ambulance, Ray Ashman, who was one of those invited to lay a wreath.
AHBS will be out andabout in the Ashford area again soon broadcasting live from various locations in the run up to Christmas.
