Community Radio is a new tier of Independent broadcasting in the UK. The role of this new radio station will be to collect and distribute community content & information from the Ashford area, potentially featuring regular programming from a wide variety of organisations such as schools, clubs & societies, churches and the borough council.

A very wide and diverse choice of music will be broadcast during daytimes, including a firm commitment to genres such as jazz, folk, country, crossover classical, musical theatre, brass & other bands as well as contemporary pop and rock. However, at least 50% of the music played during these times shall be aimed at listeners aged over forty five, with special attention paid to those over the age of sixty. Every 3 hours during daytime a short 3-5minute speech based documentary or feature will be broadcast, following a live national news update. During the night we’ll broadcast local quality rock station EKR. And a regular programme at the weekend will produce and record local performers and the best of these will be included in the regular daytime schedule.
