Julie Rose Stadium Family Fun Day hailed a great success

Ashford Leisure Trust held a successful community family fun day at the Julie Rose Stadium last Saturday (11th May) with over 100 families helping to raise £355 for the Mayors nominated charities – Homestart, Headway and Ashford Arthritis Care.
The theme of the day was ‘Participation to Performance’. The morning involved over 60 children aged 5 – 11 years taking part in a multi-event athletics competition, each winner received an athletics goodie bag that included a free athletics coaching session.
The Chairman of Ashford Leisure Trust, Mick Hubert also introduced the Ashford Leisure Trust 14 talented athletes selected for 2013 whom the Trust is supporting. The awards were presented to the athletes by the Worshipful the Mayor of Ashford, Bob Davidson and the Deputy Leader of Ashford Borough Council, Councillor Michael Claughton.
The 2013 talented athletes are: Deborah Martin (Athletics), Jodie Cowie – (Synchronised Swimming), Euan Cox (Gymnastics), Ellie Burns (Badminton), Connie Willett (Modern Pentathlon), Lulu Willett (Modern Pentathlon), Claire Harvey (Sitting Volleyball), Victoria Kenny (Triathlon), Dale Wallace (Trampolining), Finlay Lincoln (Gymnastics), Adrian Heathfield (Paratriathlon), Jaimee-Ann Heyes (Athletics), Amanda Cook (Gymnastics), Lucy Howes (Lifesaving).
During the afternoon there was also a 1 mile family fun run, athletics taster sessions and cycling activities provided by ‘Cycle Circle’.
