AHBS produce the daily request show, weekdays from 7pm and weekends from 5pm. The members of AHBS are all unpaid volunteers. Occupations are many & varied and everybody has a particular quality or experience that benefits the Service.
Can anyone become a member? Are there any age restrictions?
As we're part of the NHS Volunteers we're not able to accept applications from those under the age of 16.
All our volunteers are screened by the Criminal Records Bureau and the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust who give the final go ahead for volunteer placements within AHBS. As we are based in a busy acute hospital, patient care safeguards are of primary importance and their decision is final.
Can anyone become a member? Are there any age restrictions?
Sadly, as we're part of the NHS Volunteers we're not able to accept applications from those under the age of 16.
If you are going to turn 16 in a few months time, contact us now and we can start the application process, so that you can become a member as soon as you turn 16. Alternatively you might be interested in getting involved with one of the community groups we work with.
The law relating to the supervision of under 18's means that we have to have in place a policy that can guarantee at least two adults will always be there to supervise. This may also therefore limit the volunteering placements we are able to offer you if you are 17 or 18.
