News | Celebrate 70 years of the NHS in Ashford
Date Posted: 4th July 2018
NHS Ashford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is hosting a tea party to celebrate 70 years of one of the country's most beloved institutions.
People from across Ashford and the surrounding area can come along and toast the NHS on Tuesday 17 July, at Sandyacres Sports and Social Centre, Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford, 10am to noon.
Representatives from the CCG and local voluntary and community organisations will be there to talk about the range of services available in the community.
Dr Navin Kumta, Chair of the CCG, said: "This is a landmark year for the NHS. Since its introduction, it has delivered huge medical advances and improvements to public health, and has transformed the health and wellbeing of the nation.
"The CCG is keen to listen to your stories, ideas and achievements so that everyone can celebrate the successes of the NHS and the local community. By listening to various views and perspectives and having an open dialogue with the community, we are much more likely to find ideas that work for local residents, and help us with the next 70 years of the NHS."

As part of the birthday year, we are asking everyone to consider doing something to celebrate the contribution of the NHS to their lives, perhaps by:
· making one lifestyle change which will benefit you and the NHS (and telling people about it)
· volunteering with your local NHS provider
· holding a fund-raising event to raise money for your local NHS charity or Friends of NHS charity.
